This Thursday, Sarah Abel and Gísli Pálsson will present a joint paper at the opening of the new exhibition “FOLK – from racial types to DNA sequences” at Oslo’s Teknisk Museum.

Their paper is entitled “Decoding unwritten pasts: Genomics as a lens onto histories of slavery”, and will focus on the recent reconstruction of the genome of Hans Jonathan – a man born into slavery in the late eighteenth century, whose life story is explored in Gísli Pálsson’s recent work The Man Who Stole Himself.
